From One Survivor to Another
Source rambles about rap/hip hop music and white feminist priorities
I was just discussing today how mainstream white media always likes to push out rap and hip hop as the most misogynistic and homophobic music to ever exist on the planet. White feminists have also joined in on this racist ass bandwagon, completely ignoring how many rap songs are indeed philosophical and have a deeper fucking meaning.
Prescriptive white feminists don’t want to hear the philosophical musings of Bone Thugs N Harmony about death, dying, religious faith and coping with loss.
They don’t want to hear about how Nicki uses her voice as a beacon because she is fighting for her own voice to be heard, and not some sexed up bullshit that men want her to be.
And they SURE AS HELL don’t want to remember how Tupac WAS MORE FEMINIST THAN THEIR ASSES EVER WILL BE.
They will gloss over the sexism, racism and homophobia of their classic rock superstars, focusing on the oh so bad black men who say “bitch and hoe.”
They ignore the fact that Eminem’s whiny ass advocated violence against the women in his life for the first half of his damn career, talmbout how he “redeemed” himself after he wrote songs about his daughter.
They claim that black men are the most sexist men on the planet while appropriating their culture and styles.
Ignorance is bliss for these folks.
Gotta love how some people will warp any legitimate criticism about the rampant misogyny and homophobia (among other things) in hip hop into a racist attack on all black people, even though black women and queer people of color are the ones who suffer most from it.
I’ve never heard a feminist say that Eminem “redeemed” himself; not saying it has never happened, but it’s very disengenous to present it as a majority opinion. I’ve heard him criticized just as strongly as (if not moreso than) any black rapper.
And, yes, there is also plenty of misogyny in rock music, but maybe look up Ignoratio elenchi before arguing that erases all the misogyny in hip hop.
As for Tupac being more of a feminist than “my ass” will ever be, is this the same Tupac that recieved a four-and-a-half year sentence for sexually assaulting a female fan or is there some other Tupac I’m not aware of?
Eminem raps routinely about killing his ex wife & has admitted to being a batterer. Yet, no one called for his head over it. He caught the most heat for using homophobic language & even that was muted by comparison to the reaction to Chris Brown. Meanwhile country, rock & metal are full of men with convictions for domestic violence who write misogynistic songs. but when white feminists decide to talk about misogyny in music they point to rap instead of interrogating the lyrics in any other genre despite the fact that they routinely admit in those articles that they don’t actually listen to hip regularly or you know…at all. It’s not legitimate criticism when you decide a few songs are representative of a whole genre of music.
Oh the LATIN . ANd maybe someone could learn basic readingc comprehension about the actual discussion before trying to impress folks with masters with Freshman philosophy esp. if they wanna quote wikipedia.
OR they could not use Black women of which the author and responders ALL ARE , and queer people which a few people who have agreed are, and who have written major pieces on their discomfort with the EXACT SAME PHENOMENON as a rhetorical point.
They could also stop using parentheticals to insinuate ominous and incorrect charges of blindness to reality. And they could follow it up with once again not using the complete asininity of a Froshman philosophy to ignore the salient point :
Which is presented with comparable misogyny in other genres the fervor around regulating disappears and is couched in much less racist and detrimental rhetoric
OR MY WISH;
If you and al your fierce fab super awesome!!@!@@!!11!! feminist friends can’tc ome up with enough to discuss to brighten your damn day. You stay all the FUCK out of WOC discussions that are focused on our own healing and processing of our lives , to try and get you intellectual tourist ya-ya’s
And as longa s you hold up some of the ” heroes you do” you can say exactly no shit about who we negotiate with ours , especially if you are the same feminism that gives laudatory holidays to racists who called for our lynchings when we tried to get the right to vote as one of your foundations ..
Among other things
No why don’t you toddle on back to theshallow end of the analysis pool , before you drown cause you’re to stupid to close your mouth and not let water in.
Bye now

This was thought provoking. I think that a lot of main stream pop music can be just as vulgar as some rap music. I don’t...
