From One Survivor to Another
Inclusion: What Jennifer Hepler’s Story is All About →
… If you only want the story then watch a movie? >_>;; *shrug*
Uh, it’s very possible to make games that don’t have combat as a main focus, and still have them be incredibly engaging.
Mirror’s Edge.
Every puzzle game and match 3 in existence.
Katamari games.
You can absolutely beat most of the Silent Hill games with minimal combat, just running around and exploring.
Every adventure game ever— Monkey Island series for example.
The Penumbra games are designed around avoiding combat as much as possible.
And every Metal Gear game ever is a damn soap opera, but guy gamers don’t complain about that.
I’d also like to see someone defend the Final Fantasy series as needing combat at all. Most of it is just grinding and useless stuff to stretch out the length.
