Dog Eat Dog: A game about Colonialism - in print

bankuei:

A while back I posted about the kickstarter for Dog Eat Dog - it’s been printed and published and is available!

It’s a short, roleplaying game about a fictional colonization of a fictional people, but all the issues it hits on are real.  The game focuses on how the colonizers’ values get enforced on folks, and how it changes people and the society trying to survive and adapt under that.   As I said when I played it some years ago - it’s not about how the colonizer steals resources, it’s about how the colonizer steals identities.

You should check it out!  If you’re teaching youth or doing organizing, it’s an excellent way to demonstrate how people internalize systems of oppression and inflict it on each other and themselves as much as anything else.

reblogging because the majority of popular board games (especially euro games) these days rarely, if ever, question their colonial settings. And a whole lot of them are colonial.
